Transportation : miserable feature in rural areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts

In a country like Bangladesh, it is said that the number of dead's by accidents that happens through the transportation systems is more than any normal fortuities. Whether the people maybe suffering from any seasonal calamities or miseries but the frequent incidents relating with transports like on roads or water transits never seems to be stopped. The daily newspapers are always writing about the daily accidents occurring in the whole country and if the statistics are check over this, one can easily get freaked out.

However, it is of no need to discuss about the situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Being the hilly area, there contains the poor road construction at the risky hilly valleys. So the drivers on roads of Chittagong Hill Tracts have to be careful and very cautious while driving. The rural areas far away from the so called development projects in this territory are the most immolating points in this regard.

There are no facilities of transportation system in these places. If you move a bit from the splendors of the Sadar, the poor management regarding transports are easily seen. The vendors selling their goods come from those places in hope of profiting a little by carrying the heavy goods on their backs with carrier. They have to pass a long way to reach on the main roads where the transports are available. The journey on the pathways are long and tiring. Again, living in the hills the suffering is much more tumid. In all the seasons when the sun is burning on head or when the paths are oozier and slippery, the cautiousness needed is monumental as there’s no easiness get-at-able. Sometimes, if accidents happen then comes the most unbearable misery regarding the medical treatment as it is already known that the facilities of hospitals are not reachable in these rural areas. Only the Sadar hospitals are the hope of dependence and a very few clinics situated in hillbillies. If regular eyes is kept on social media or news, it can be seen how the people in these rural areas forbear with this system.

Also, not a very long ago a picture on the social media was rambling around about some young men carrying an aged granny in a covering on the hill channel for the purpose of taking her in a hospital and it shows the peak of poor condition of the system in respect of transportation in the rural places. There are many incidents like this which do not come in the limelight and a very few like this attract the eyes of the authority and the people. But still there is nothing done to improve the situations.

Thinking about it, the blooming tourisms in the Sajek, Nilgiri, Nilachal and so on are the prey of the capitalist exploitation only as in the meantime, the sufferings of the victims behind it are kept unheard by the authority for they are busy fulfilling their self-interest. The education system including the system of medical treatment being very poor make the burden of affliction really heavy and it is increased more with the improvised method of transporting.

However the number of licenses less drivers as well as the expired vehicles roaming make it more risky. Very often it is seen that how accidents happen for driving carelessly in the risky areas trying to be fast on competitions with other conveyances. Same is the condition with the water transports though the loss of goods into the streaming water is occurred more.

The most elegiac consequence for this inconvenience is the suffering from lack of medical treatment in the areas. The vaccination of children, birth of child, health of the pregnant women, the ailing elderly undergo through this problem most as it is difficult for them to move or walk all the way from home to the hospitals when there are no transportations available. Though road constructions in the Chittagong Hill Tracts have reduced the sufferings of the people generally but the rural villagers are afar from these advantages or utilities. Another complexion that arises from the poor transporting is the change of fate of the victim’s family who dies either by on the road accident itself or by any other means and it becomes more difficult to the existing family members to lead the normal life again. Still, the people are struggling with their situations trying to competing with fate for the near future.
