Tenzing Chakma's Sozpodor : A journey on reviving the lost traditional clothing.


Tenzing Chakma is an intriguing fashion designer of Bangladesh who is on the quest of taking Indigenous weaving and its fabrics to a new level. He has already earned a vast amount of recognition for his works internationally and locally.


After completing his education abroad of special classes in 2000, he didn't wait a bit to open his fashion brand, "Sozpodor" His designs blend the beauty of colors with an elegant personality. By origin, the name "Sozpodor" has a meaning in the Chakma language. It refers to the accumulation of all sorts of weaving tools in one place.

Tenzing has also presented Bangladesh Embassy in a fashion show in

Mexico City, and it was pretty astounding with contemporary design.

During an interview with the daily star, Tenzing was asked about his favorite part of being a designer; he replied, "There are a lot of favourite parts, but my most favourite would be creating new designs that are colourful and different. I am always eager to try out new things, and designing allows me to work my creative muscles "

When Tenzing came from abroad, he noticed originality getting lost among the dressing culture of the Indigenous Community. Sozpodor took the responsibility of reviving old traditional clothing from the ongoing trend of mainly wearing Banarsi in marriage functions. It's been 20 years since Sozpodor started its journey, and it's been quite successful in its goals. Tenzing himself admitted that seeing traditional clothing going popular again among the community makes him feel proud.

Overall, Sozpodor contributed a lot to bring out originality in the community. A relatable fact: Sozpodor has its unique fame among Chakmas when it comes to buying any new wearing in a close relatives marriage.
