Midnight attack on buddhist monk by Bengali settlers, donation money looted

A buddhist monk was severely injured in head as well as in other parts of the body after getting attacked by two Bengali settlers yesterday ( May 31) approximately at 12.30 am. This despicable act happened at Pragya Sadhana Bana Vihar, Panchhari in Khagrachhari district. The injured monk, Venerable Agrajyoti Bhante, is the head of the aforementioned Buddhist temple.

The miscreants fractured a bone of his left hand, hit him with iron rods on the back and abdomen and injured his head deeply with a cutlass .

Being rescued he was admitted to Panchhari Upazilla Health Complex and afterwards transferred to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital due to the serious head injury.

The miscreants looted all of the donation money of the pagoda. This seems as a schemed act as the monk said the miscreants spied on him two days ago.

Later, yesterday around 4 pm a protest has been held against this heinous attack demanding justice. Enraged people of Chittagong Hill Tracts and buddhist community across the country are expressing their resentment and condemnation through social media claiming attacks on Buddhist monk in Bangladesh are not rare.
