Bandarban, a fascinating place of Bangladesh. A paradise of mountains-peaks and wildlife. It’s called the daughter of the Nature. Although life here isn’t pleasant enough. Rather it’s ruthless,
Cruel and ferocious. It hits people with misery. Bandarban has its own beauty with nature but never got attention in its people's struggle for existence. People here are ignored although they are one of the most backward people of the country. Never got the best things that the country can provide. There are rumours of Bandarban becoming the garbage bin of Bangladesh, bearing hundreds of accused corrupted government officials. But we are not talking about these today, we are going to talk about a crisis that was prohibited way before it’s discussion. Many media don't even bother to cover the medical crisis of Bandarban. Being the last district of parliamentary partition, Bandarban couldn’t enough make a fortune in medical revolution . This unprosperous district with a good amount of inhabited people have a few hospitals that aren't even good enough.
In early 2000s, Bandarban faced a massive attack of malaria. Many people died because of malaria. Campaigns of medical teams were founded and many helped Bandarban out from this crisis even though we could save many lives if we could have provided hospitals in the rural hilly area. According to the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NECP), currently 93 per cent of the country's 29 thousand and 247 malaria patients are from Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachhari. (24 April 2018) and Bandarban tops the list since 2000. Necessary steps should be taken to reduce the amount of death. Malaria won't be that vulnerable enough if we have hospitals and medical needs are fulfilled
After malaria, there are a lot of waterborne diseases in Bandarban. Various water borne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, typhoid etc are well known diseases in Bandarban. Mostly children are highly becoming the victims of this diseases. People here are having water crisis, they drink water from jhiri(little water source), streams, Sangu river. Although they look clean and indigenous people have been drinking this water for ages but many of this have high risks of becoming great sources of waterborne diseases. Also flood, heavy rain could even flash this water sources and leaving them no choice but to drink uncleaned water. Expert says, sustainable plans for erasing this diseases from bandarban can help but it needs a lot of efforts from government officials. Medical camp, awareness, hospitals, medicines should be well provided by the government to save this people. Though people had been experiencing bitterness of sad truth of Medical crisis of Bandarban.
Let's talk about the system that exists and isn’t fairy tale. As we are concerned of Bandarban being the garbage bin, gets the worst services of Bangladesh. Hospitals that are located in this remote area aren't that much developed in today's digital Bangladesh. We cannot complaint about rural ones as the main ones aren't good enough to be praised. People here have to rush 7/8 mile for maternal emergencies. Cause hospitals don't exist here much. Even if they get to a hospital doctors are missing. Report says 60% of doctors and nurses don't even bother to give medical needs to people in Bandarban as the past has showed us many irregularities of responsible ones. Although main town of Bandarban can deliver babies safely but other upozila's doesn’t even have 80% success rate in this field. So many mother miscarriage and children die on birth. Maternal mortality rate is higher in Bandarban.
The lackings of Transportation or clearly if i say ambulances are one of the biggest problems of Bandarban. More than 5 years ago, there was only an ambulance in whole Bandarban sadar upazila.Although Today's scenario isn’t different enough. Only 2 Ambulance with several damages are in service. Bandarban has 8 major government clinic or medical organisation . Although only Sadar Hospital is the one and only named hospital. Others are health care centre
and could never provide enough health care to public. In many cases patients die due to lack of ambulance. With the lack of infrastructural development, Bandarban could never be enough suitable place for severely injured patients or emergency Medical needs. So patients have to go to Chattogram Medicals for medication and medical emergencies. But due to lack of enough ambulance, patients have to die in many occasions. Even the cost is too much for an ambulance for the residence of one of the poorest district of Bangladesh. Government should get ambulance as people need it the most for recent past years. Bandarban is often considered as one of the conflict zones of Bangladesh because this beauty gets hurt everytime with her own people's blood. In the recent years, conflicts of different groups broke out loudly and boldly in Bandarban. Many were victimized. They were shot,killed, injured, kidnapped, tortured.
Even though some of them survived with severe injury, we could not save them due to infrastructural undevelopment of medical hospital of Bandarban. This crisis has taken many lives as we can't afford good medication. Some of this patients died in rush to Chattogram medical. We mourned enough but never understood this crisis. Today as bandarban being the most backward district we need to solve this medical crisis.Therefore, many lives will be saved, many lives will be given, many lives shall live.
